Mathematics and AI: A Key Theme in Research

On April 4, 2025, a day-long event dedicated to the theme of AI and mathematics was held in Paris. The event was co-organized by Hi! PARIS, SCAI (Sorbonne Cluster for Artificial Intelligence), PR[AI]RIE-PSAI, Institut DATAIA Paris-Saclay, and ELLIS (European Laboratory for Learning and Intelligent Systems).

The event brought together researchers and experts from various institutions to exchange on recent developments at the intersection of artificial intelligence and mathematical research.

This one-day conference aimed to inform the broader mathematics community about the latest advances in AI applied to mathematics, including new LLMs for reasoning and innovative training techniques. It also covered mathematical contributions to AI, such as specialized datasets for reasoning and proof assistants.

A hands-on session allowed participants to experiment with advanced tools used for solving mathematical problems.

This conference aimed to inform the entire mathematics community about recent advances in artificial intelligence applied to mathematics, particularly through new language models (LLMs) for reasoning and innovative training techniques. It also sought to highlight the contributions of mathematics to AI, such as the development of specialized datasets for reasoning and proof assistants.

The scientific coordination of the event was ensured by Aymeric Dieuleveut (Hi! PARIS, École Polytechnique), Francis Bach (Inria), and Gabriel Peyré (CNRS & ENS).
